Hello, I’m Claire! Originally from East Sussex in the UK, I’ve been living in Japan for the past 7 years with my husband and daughter. I enjoy practicing yoga, watching movies, and traveling—experiencing different cultures is something I always look forward to.

My teaching journey began at an eikaiwa, where I spent several years working with a diverse range of students. After developing a strong connection with Japan, I returned to the UK to pursue a Master’s degree, and then moved back to Japan to teach at the university level, where I’ve been ever since.

With extensive experience in various areas of English teaching, including young learners, general English, and business English, my true passion lies in academic English. Having earned two degrees, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise from my own academic journey to help my students succeed in their studies.

I specialize in identifying the most meaningful and useful language that goes beyond exams, equipping students with the skills they need to excel in real-world academic contexts. Over the years, I’ve helped countless students achieve their exam goals, particularly in IELTS and EIKEN. I’m also well-versed in other exams such as TOEFL, TOEIC, and CELPIP.

While I teach primarily in English, I’m happy to use my conversational Japanese when it’s helpful to my students, ensuring clear communication and support.
